Time to create a diversified marketing strategy

Did anyone else have a little freak out when Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp went down for half day? It’s a little wake up call for us all to make sure we have a robust, diversified marketing strategy.

BRANDING BEFORE BREAKFAST EP 89 – Time to create a diversified marketing strategy

Hi everyone. Did anyone else have a little bit of a freak out recently when Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp went down for almost half a day? Well, we did. And the reason we did is because we spend so much time, energy and money investing in these platforms as a means for marketing. Not only for ourselves, but also for clients. But actually, what it really is is a really nice reminder that we need to be creating diversified marketing strategies for our brands. Now, that doesn’t mean you have to spread yourself too thin and try and do everything but it is good to make sure that you’ve got marketing happening in many channels, multiple channels.

They say that before a customer is ready to buy, you need to have had some kind of interaction with them between 7 and 15 times. So today I’m going to share with you a list of other ways to market, just for you to consider, and to help you create that diversified marketing strategy.

So first up, we’ve got SEO. SEO is great for a longer-term strategy in making sure you’ve got great organic reach. Google AdWords – also investing in digital ads. EDMs – a really important one in terms of nurturing your current database when it comes to buying from you. Campaign work. Then you’ve got attending events or even speaking at events that could be either online or in person, which would be really nice as we come out of lockdown. Then you’ve got awards. That always creates greater tension. Collaborations with like-minded brands. You’ve got influencer marketing. And then you’ve also got guerrilla tactics. So, you know, creating great content that becomes really shareable and grabs attention. Something else to consider is affiliate marketing. And then, of course, the trustee referral programs.

So today, just a gentle reminder to make sure you create that diversified marketing strategy. That’s it for me. Time for brekkie.
