Branding Before Breakfast Ep 124 Transcript \ Branding lessons from the Queen

Good morning. Today, it’s the 9th of September 2022, and we woke to the very sad news that Queen Elizabeth II has died. Throughout all of the coverage, we’ve heard the same descriptions honorable, loyal, dedicated, trustworthy.

And it really got me thinking about how powerful that brand was and how it has taken the Monarchy through that 70 years of reigning. And I started to think about how you might think about this in terms of your brand. So, we know that in the 90’s, for example, there were three royal divorces.

And on top of that, we had the very sad passing of princess Diana. Now, some people didn’t feel that the Queen handled that in the best way. And in fact, the popularity of the Royal family really dropped. But, through maintaining those values and really remaining consistent in the way that the Queen approached caring for her country and for her family, her popularity rose again. And so today, I’d really like you to have a think about have you actually established values for your brand?

And do you live and breathe those regardless of economic climate? regardless of the team member that might be working to represent your brand. Do you know what you stand for? and how you want people to describe your brand. Hopefully, from all across the world that they will all have the same impression because you have been consistent in putting the right brand positioning out there.

That’s it from me. It’s time for brekkie.
