TRANSCRIPT – BRANDING BEFORE BREAKFAST EP40

Hi everyone. According to the Nielsen 2015 Global Corporate Sustainability Report, over 73% of consumers will now pay more for products that come from a sustainable source. So this should be a big wake-up call for brands. Why? Because you really need to care about what your customers care about. So if you haven’t already started to shift to a more sustainable brand, you really need to get moving because otherwise you’re going to be left behind. Now this does not mean you have to completely change your business model. There’s some simple things that you can do today.

Such as, number one, recycling. Make sure you’ve got a really diligent structure in place so that everyone in your company can be recycling waste effectively.

Number two, look at your appliances. If they’re really old, they’re probably not very energy efficient. So maybe shift up to some new appliances.

Number three, look at your energy source. Move to green power. You’ve got wind, you’ve got solar and you’ve got water. Shift over to something more renewable.

And number four, investigate your supply chain. Make sure that you’re buying goods and services from suppliers that have sustainable products. They should be recyclable. They should be non-toxic and they should come from a renewable source.

There’s a lot of big players out there who are making major shifts to become more sustainable, such as Nike. They’ve worked really hard to reduce their waste and their footprint in this world.

And then Addidas as have actually completely changed up this supply chain to make sure that they are working with green suppliers.

So make the shift in your business. Become more sustainable and see how that affects your bottom line for the future. That’s it for me, time for brekkie.
