What customer?: Why you need to be customer centric

More than 60% of businesses fail within the first three years in Australia. And a big chunk of these because of a lack of strategic planning in connecting with their customer.

What if I said to you, if you don’t know how to brand or market, you should probably just pack up and go home. You might think I’m being a little bit extreme but actually I’m being perfectly rational and very serious. More than 60 percent of businesses fail in Australia in the first three years. And a big chunk of these fail because of a lack of strategic planning in connecting with their customer. We see so many companies that are absolutely brilliant at what they do.

Making shoes, creating beauty products, consultancy, blending coffee, offering investment advice, building spaces. It makes sense. If you have a skill, you want to build a business around it. But to succeed, business owners need to think differently. They need to focus most of their efforts on how they’re going to connect with their customer. You might create the best product or service in the world, but it’s a fail if nobody buys it and you end up going out of business.

So I’d like to challenge all business owners out there. Are you focusing on your customer? Or is it all about you? That’s it for me. Time for brekkie.
