Fashion and film make a perfect combination, and Karl Lagerfeld knows it best. Following on from the short film Once Upon a Time, about Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s early days in Deauville, Lagerfeld has now created a 30-minute short film entitled, The Return.
The film features Geraldine Chaplin (Charlie Chaplin’s daughter) and recounts the tale of how the designer struggled to impress critics with her 1954 comeback collection.
It looks into the relationship between Coco Channel and Dallas-based Neiman Marcus, who supported her designs.
Throughout the film, we see stunning designs by Coco, from the quintessential tailored Chanel jacket to the comeback of fitted clothing.
The film was shot over three days, without a script and stars Rupert Everett, Anna Mouglalis, Lady Amanda Harlech, Arielle Dombasle and Kati Nescher as well as Vincent Darré and Sam McKnight.
