Many people claim that email marketing is old school. But I disagree. Email isn’t dead. In fact it could be your best channel for marketing. When people sign up to your database it’s a privilege. They want to be in your world. If you have the mindset that email marketing is all about your customer, then you can create strong and authentic connections.

The word on the street is that email marketing is old school. I disagree. Email isn’t dead. In fact, it’s probably one of the best channels to authentically connect with customers and future customers. When people sign up to your database, it’s a real privilege. It shouldn’t be taken lightly. So every piece of content, you send out by email, needs to be valuable and needs to be customer centric. If you keep top of mind that email marketing is all about your customer then you will win in this channel. Here’s a couple of ideas on how to encourage database sign up.

Firstly your website. It’s an untapped resource. Make sure you’re incentivising people to sign up to your database on your website.

Secondly, pop-up windows on your website. When people are showing real interest in your website, either by the number of pages they’re looking at or the time they’re spending on your website then have an automatically activated pop-up window to encourage sign up.

Thirdly, socials. Make sure you’re promoting database sign up through your social feed and also on the wall of your socials.

And lastly, seriously incentivise database sign up through competitions, giveaways, lead magnets, such as ebooks. Really encourage people by adding true value to capture their details. Email marketing is definitely not dead. In fact, it could be your best channel for marketing. That’s it for me. Time for brekkie.
