Close the gap between business strategy and brand action

There’s often a gap between what a business has become and how it is understood, communicated and experienced. Especially following periods of growth, acquisition, succession or a new strategy.

Customers may only understand part of what you offer, teams may explain the business differently or the reputation you’ve earned may no longer reflect the business you’ve become.

We call this the Brand Action Gap®.

Our approach starts by establishing what needs attention and what should stay. Where change is needed, we carry it through brand strategy, messaging, identity and implementation.

Start with evidence

The Brand Action Diagnostic® looks at your business through three lenses:

  1. what your leadership team intends
  2. what your people live
  3. what your market experiences

Together, these perspectives help us identify where the mismatch sits, what it’s affecting and where investment would be useful.

The Diagnostic can stand alone or form the first phase of a broader transformation.

The Brand Action Framework

Our framework organises the diagnosis across three areas.

Vision. Is it defined?

Does the business share a clear understanding of what it is, where it is going and why it should be chosen?

Action. Is it lived?

Does that direction shape decisions, behaviour, hiring, sales and delivery, or does it mainly live in a strategy document?

Impact. Is it felt?

Do people recognise the difference, trust the promise and choose your business for the intended reasons? Is there evidence of this in the measures that matter?

Build the brand inside and out

Brand is shaped by what a business says, how it looks and how it operates. Your people need the understanding and tools to deliver what you promise.

That’s why we consider internal alignment and external expression together from the outset.

Our brand transformation work is tailored to your business. We establish what needs attention and what’s already working, then shape the scope around the evidence. This can include:

  1. defining a clear and differentiated position
  2. developing the verbal and visual identity that expresses it
  3. applying the brand across customer touchpoints, experience and communications
  4. embedding the brand across your organisation through clear ownership, practical tools and support for your people

Connecting ambition to everyday action

Your positioning, identity and customer experience should reflect both the business you’ve become and where you’re heading.
We help embed that direction across your organisation, with the systems, tools and ownership to connect what you stand for with how your people make decisions and deliver every day.

A baseline and later re-score help assess progress and identify where further attention is needed.
